Fancy to poop?

Koukussa Kortteihin Vintage challenge this time was to make something else than a card. I made something for our future home, a WC plaque. We already bought wallpapers to whole apartment and most of it is going to be brown. We don't have much anything I've made on display at our present place and I hope I'll get more "me" to the new place.

I used Sizzix Alteration dies Baroque and Mini Baroque to cut bottom and frame out of chipboard. I also cut the same shape out of old book page I got from my Christmas calendar and stamped some Fiskars whirls on it with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo and a bird with Jet Black Archival Ink. I doodled some more swirls and colored the bird with Bronze Sparkle Gelly Roll pen. After all that I painted the whole backround with Distress Crackle Paint in Clear Rock Candy, let it dry and added some Vintage photo in cracks.

Next I painted the frame and some pearl cardstock with Brassy Brass Game Color acrylic paint and highlighted and distressed the edges a bit with Tinny Tin paint. Now if you don't paint big canvases I can highly recommend Game Color paints. They come in tiny bottles, the same size as Stickles, and the bottle costs around 2 euros. They're highly pigmented so a few drops carry far and the color range for metallics is great. Matte colors are just as good in quality but because the series is meant for miniatures the palette tends to have a lot of different flesh colors etc. and not that much brights. In addition to painting with them I've used them as spritzer, just added a few drops to water in a Mini Mister.

Ok, got carried away a bit with the paints. Next step was to use Marianne Desing dies to cut swirls and a flower out of that cardstock I painted earlier and emboss them with Sizzix texture plate. I cut one petal of the flower and handcut a body to create a butterfly. I gave the wings a bit of shape by curling them, glued a piece of snap in the middle and made antennae out of jewellery wire.

Last but not least I cut two pieces of each letter out of thinner chipboard with my Sizzix Bang!Zoom! -Sizzlits. I painted the other pair with Black Soot Distress ink and spritzed them all with a mixture of Vintage Photo ink, water and Perfect Pearls in Perfect Copped and glued them on the plate.
